A Word from Our Founder

On October 25, 2015, my world changed forever. My husband, just 32 years old, collapsed and died at the finish line of a race. At the time, our children were only five months and three years old.
The grief was unimaginable sudden, raw, and all-consuming. I was thrust into a life I hadn’t planned for, raising two young children while navigating the depths of loss and a career. But somehow, through the pain, I kept going—because I had to. Because they needed me.
Seven years later, just as we were finding our rhythm again, tragedy struck once more. Our daughter, then nine, was hit by a snowboarder with such force that she flew 20 feet through the air and landed face down in the snow. She suffered a cardiac arrest and an internal decapitation—injuries that most don’t survive. After 30 days in the ICU and 60 days in a rehabilitation facility, she defied every odd and made a full recovery. Today, at 12 years old, she just performed in a musical, her voice and spirit stronger than ever.
These moments—of heartbreak, resilience, and joy—have reshaped how I see the world and the work I do. When I am not helping families with their finances, I spend time boating on Lake Pymatuning with my family. Since then, I am happily remarried, and we’ve continued building our lives forward.
